phungj/Annotated-BibTeX-Collection<|file_sep|>/README.md # Annotated BibTeX Collection ## Note This repo has been discontinued. I have since created [Literature](https://github.com/phungj/literature) which is an annotated bibliography manager built using [Zotero](https://www.zotero.org/) (more information about Zotero below). ## About This is my collection of annotated BibTeX entries that I have found useful or interesting. If you are interested in contributing an annotated BibTeX entry feel free to open a pull request. ## Why? I have found that searching online for papers relevant to my research interests has become increasingly difficult due to paywalls etc. So I thought it would be helpful if people could contribute their own annotated bibliographies using BibTeX so that everyone could benefit from each others work. ## How? If you want add an annotated entry just copy one from `biblio.bib` (and any other files) then add your annotation at the end. Make sure you do not change any existing annotations. To annotate an entry use `@string{annote = {Your annotation}}` after all other fields. You should not include any citation marks e.g. `"{Your annotation}"`. Example: @article{phung2020personalized, author = {Phung, Justin}, year = {2020}, title = {Personalized Medicine: A Review}, annote = {This paper reviews current approaches used in personalized medicine including patient stratification based on genomics (e.g., GWAS) as well as biomarkers (e.g., proteomics).}, } If you would like more guidance please take a look at [my annotated bibliography](https://github.com/phungj/Annotated-BibTeX-Collection/blob/master/biblio.bib). ## How do I read them? The easiest way is probably by using [Zotero](https://www.zotero.org/) which is free software. Zotero allows you import BibTeX files. Once imported it will automatically convert them into citations. You will then be able click on each citation which will show you its annotation. You can also use Zotero without installing it by going here: https://www.zotero.org/. ## Future Work I plan on adding tags so that users can search by topic e.g. machine learning, genomics, bioinformatics etc. The idea would be that users could tag entries using `@string` like so: @string{machine_learning = "ML"} @string{bioinformatics = "Bioinfo"} Then they could add these tags using `keywords` like so: @article{matt2018deep, author = {Matt Turpin}, title = {Deep learning: Where are we now?}, year = {2018}, journal = {Frontiers in Genetics}, keywords = {machine_learning,bioinformatics} } Then they could filter based on these keywords. <|file_sep|>@article{guttman2016variational, author = {G{"u}tman{ss}, Jan-Oliver}, title = {Variational inference
